About Me

A Late Bloomer

Russ grew up in a tough neighborhood in Topeka, Kansas, playing football, basketball, and baseball and continues to enjoy lifelong friendships from those days. Every year they meet on Thanksgiving day to raise food and money for a local charity during the annual Turkey Bowl football game. He studied Tae Kwon Do, Jeet Kune Do and Hawaiin Kempo in his early years and also took up soccer when he was 20. He continues to play soccer and began practicing yoga in his late 30s.

Russ's first theatrical production was with Topeka Civic Theater in 1993 at the ripe old age of 29 . He was nominated for a Renna award and was hooked on acting. He recently completed production of Miracle on 34th Street as Charlie Halloran along with his 10 yr old daughter.

He has worked for directors Ang Lee, Philip Grecian, Robert Altmann, Max Malkin and many other greats, and actors, Gary Senise, Martin Sheen, Tobey Maguire, Jewell, Patty Duke, Skeet Ulrich, and many other great actors.

His most recent endeavor is portraying his childhood hero, the late, great Hall of Fame NFL coach Vincent Thomas Lombardi in the Super Bowl LV commercial. This was a wonderful message by the National Football League to unite the world, coming together AS ONE to defeat the pandemic.

In addition to acting, Russ is a licensed Realtor and owns and manages several rental properties and an alfalfa farm. He continues to throw over 1,500 bales of hay each year and enjoys hard work! Namaste :)

Current Projects

Russ has been working with the Ruskin Theatre Group (Anthony Hopkins, Austin Highsmith Garces, John Ruskin) for the past 2 years and will graduate in June 2025. See his 8 minute monolog as Lambert Hutchins from the Spoon River Antalogy book. He is also fine tuning skills, working on movies, videos, commercials and Theater of the Mind productions with his collaboration group, The Air Command.
